Private Helicopter Hire

Private helicopter charter is the fastest and most efficient way to reach city centres, remote locations, and exclusive destinations. In congested urban areas, helicopter transfers can dramatically reduce travel time while offering superior comfort and flexibility.

Helicopters are often combined with private jet charters, providing seamless airport-to-city connections. Operating at lower altitudes than fixed-wing aircraft, they also offer exceptional sightseeing opportunities, making them ideal for panoramic flights and bespoke travel experiences.

Types of Helicopters

Helicopters are generally classified into two main categories: single-engine and twin-engine models, each suited to different flight requirements.

Single-engine helicopters are cost-effective and ideal for short, daytime flights. Common models available through Cielo Aviation include the Airbus Helicopters H125 and H130, Leonardo AW119 Koala and Bell 407GX.

Twin-engine helicopters offer higher performance, increased cabin space, and enhanced operational capability. They are often preferred for night flights, longer routes or when additional safety redundancy is required. Popular models include the Leonardo AW109, Airbus Helicopters AS355 and AS365, Leonardo AW139 and Airbus Helicopters H145.

Why Charter a Helicopter

Why charter a Helicopter?

The key advantage of helicopter charter lies in true point-to-point travel. Unlike fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters do not require traditional runways, allowing direct access to destinations that are otherwise difficult or time-consuming to reach.

They can land on heliports, hotels, private properties (subject to approval), yachts, and event venues, providing effortless access to ski resorts, marinas, sports facilities and major events. For short routes, helicopter charter remains the most time-efficient and versatile travel solution.

What to Consider When Renting a Helicopter

When hiring a helicopter, several operational factors should be considered, including daylight restrictions, flight duration and route characteristics such as overwater approaches. Certain flights may require additional planning to ensure that landing and take-off areas meet safety and regulatory requirements.

Cielo Aviation’s helicopter charter specialists are available 24/7 to assess feasibility, recommend the most suitable aircraft and manage all operational approvals ensuring a smooth and compliant flight experience from start to finish.

FAQs

How much luggage can I bring with me on a helicopter flight?

The luggage capacity varies greatly depending on the type of helicopter you choose; please keep in mind that the baggage compartments of the most common helicopters are not very large and, if you travel with full passenger capacity, it might be possible to carry only one trolley per person. Cielo Aviation's helicopter experts are always available to best manage your flight and arrange, where necessary, a ground transport for excess luggage.

How many passengers can a helicopter carry?

The most common configurations are 5, 6 or 8 seats. The biggest twin-engine helicopter, Leonardo AW139, can carry up to 15 passengers.
